Outlast 2 follows investigative journalist Blake Langermann and his wife Lynn, who travel to the Arizona desert to investigate the mysterious death of a pregnant woman. After their helicopter crashes under unexplained circumstances, Blake is separated from Lynn and finds himself trapped in Temple Gate, an isolated village ruled by the fanatical preacher Sullivan Knoth.
