The Disney video-game operation traces its corporate history to Walt Disney Computer Software, incorporated in 1988. It was reorganized as Disney Interactive in 1994, placed under Buena Vista Games in 2003, and renamed Disney Interactive Studios in 2007. Disney ended its traditional console-game publishing operation in May 2016 following the discontinuation of Disney Infinity and the closure of Avalanche Software. The Disney Interactive Studios operating business is therefore defunct, although Disney continues to conduct game and interactive-content activities through other current entities and licensing arrangements.
