Strategic Simulations, Inc. was acquired by Mindscape in 1994 and subsequently passed through The Learning Company and its corporate successors. Ubisoft acquired The Learning Company's game-development assets in 2001, after which the SSI brand was discontinued following its final releases. The SSI brand and independent operations therefore ceased in 2001.
