Dead Island: Definitive Edition takes place on the beautiful tropical island of Banoi, where a luxury vacation quickly turns into a horrifying nightmare. A mysterious outbreak transforms most of the island’s population into violent, flesh-eating zombies, leaving only a handful of survivors seemingly immune to the infection. The player takes control of one of these survivors and must fight through the devastated resorts, streets, villages, and jungles of Banoi while searching for a way to escape. Along the journey, they encounter desperate survivors, uncover the truth behind the outbreak, and battle increasingly dangerous infected creatures. With limited supplies and weapons, survival depends on scavenging, crafting, and making difficult choices. As the group moves closer to the possibility of rescue, the true nature of the infection becomes increasingly disturbing. Ultimately, their struggle is not simply about escaping the island, but about surviving long enough to discover what caused the catastrophe.
