On the remote tropical Rook Islands, Jason Brody and his friends are captured by ruthless pirates after a skydiving vacation goes terribly wrong. Escaping captivity, Jason is rescued by the native Rakyat tribe, who believe he may be the warrior destined to free their homeland. As he battles pirates, mercenaries, and dangerous wildlife, Jason transforms from an inexperienced tourist into a highly skilled survivor and fighter. His journey is driven by the desperate mission to rescue his captured friends while confronting the infamous pirate leader Vaas Montenegro, whose unpredictable brutality leaves a lasting mark on him.
